Well, it’s been a little while. I better get actually properly blogging, I suppose.
Google is coming here next Friday with interaction from my university’s ACM chapter. Apparently we were told that the presenter would hand-deliver resumés to the local recruiters, which is cool. Have to try and get my foot in the door there as an IT Field Tech.
In other news, I suck at OS. That is, the class. We’ve had two assignments so far. The first was reading a bunch of articles and distilling them to a review and our personal thoughts. I ended up with a topic centering around the Mach kernel, which meant lots of papers read from the CMU CS Department. I also happened upon one of the original academic ACM papers on Unix: The Time-Sharing System. I wanted to cry, it was so boring. Though this tidbit was interesting: at the time of the paper’s writing, the third revision had just been completed with the first rewrite in C, and required about 150K of core memory.
Ahh, geekiness.
