What, exactly, makes me say this?
Well, how about his short story, “The Last Question“? I’d never read it before today. But damn.
He is also a reason I like The American Heritage Dictionary. Why? Well, Isaac Asimov was on one of the boards which decided whether a word should be included in the dictionary (The American Heritage Dictionary Usage Panel).
That, right there? That makes The American Heritage Dictionary awesome.
I use Google Personalized Homepage (iGoogle). On it I have a Quotes of the Day widget.
Some of these quotes? I quite like them. Like that one from Mitch Hedburg: (paraphrased)
“You’ll never see an ‘Out of Order’ sign on an escalator, just ‘Escalator Temporarily Stairs, Sorry for the Inconvenience’”
Well, with that over, the real point of the post:
I’m going to start posting quotes from my iGoogle widget occasionally. Yay.
And so, we start off with today’s:
Life… is like a grapefruit. It’s orange and squishy, and has a few pips in it, and some folks have half a one for breakfast.
- Douglas Adams
America is a large, friendly dog in a very small room. Every time it wags its tail, it knocks over a chair.
- Arnold Toynbee
My laptop came in this morning. Woo!
It’s a nice number, I’m just a little annoyed that my original Apr 16 ship estimation got pushed back. Then again, it got pushed to something like May 15 or further, so…yay!
The freaky thing is? The battery was manufactured Apr 22. Think that may’ve been a (or one of the) cause(s) for delay.

Seriously. Can we drop it now? I remember the frustration of sites that would not work if you had placed the ‘www.’ sub-domain specifier in front of the name.
I guess it does add a certain flair, but…seriously.
But not roar.
Today Tonight This late evening/morning, something came up that sent shivers down my spine and made me giddy. Unfortunately, for separate reasons than what many of my peer-superiors would have.
First, to Slashdot: Lost Infocom Games Discovered
Holy Mary, Mother of God.

Well, since graduating with my BSci. this past December, I’ve been up to a whole lot…well, that’s an overstatement. I’ve done some things here and there, but nowhere near what I’d actually like.
One thing I’m working on several times a week is being a moderator for the Support forums on the Official Azureus/Vuze Forums. I began pestering them about some sort of ‘Read This First!’ sticky at the top of the various forums, so they made me a mod in the Support forums to shut me up.
When there was more of a spam problem, I also helped clear out spam when I found it. With a day where 200+ spam messages got dropped into several different topics (that’s 200+ a piece), and I cleaned up most of them by middle-clicking each button by hand, they took down Anon Posting until the software could add proper CAPTCHAs or whatever else to stem the problem.
I also tend to…you know, help users. I can get a little snarky sometimes, though.

I added my first Blogroll link. Woo.
Anyway, my best friend is now in Japan for a year. He’s been studying at another University in my state for the past…2-ish years. He left for Osaka Kyoto about the 20th of March and will be there a whole year.
Too bad I can’t talk him into being a sourcer for various Anime fan-sub groups, eh?
As a way to keep in touch with those of us back here in the States (and whoever else may accidentally Google him), he’s got a blog running over at Blogger. Maybe I should ask if he’d like a WordPress install on my site?
So, this time, I actually promise to work more on the blog.
I graduated from my University with a Bachelor of Science in Computer Information Services (with a Computer Science minor) in December 2007. Unfortunately, Google turned me down; the greater blow was Microsoft and Amazon.com not even feeling the need to give me an automated ‘Thanks, But No Thanks.’ Ouch.
In the meantime, I’m back in my hometown, doing the things I am wont to do, though my Mother tends to get annoyed at me. After two strikeouts in local lower IT Administration positions, I’m in the running at a third place. Hopefully I’ll know if I made second rounds by the end of this week.
Hopefully they won’t mind letting me go for a Friday in June so I can walk for Graduation. Ah well, I’m sure things will be fine.
